I am a self-taught artist specializing in painting horses in oil.  My particular passion is the Thoroughbred, and between operating a small layup farm and frequenting Woodbine Racetrack, that passion is well-fed.  A portion of all sales resulting from artwork and photography presented on this blog will go to LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement to help retired racehorses find new homes.

Well I must say that your passion is well fed. I started out doing horses and have done well, however, someone decided they would go into the medical field and become a Grandmother. That being said I feel like I have lost my touch. So, I have been sitting online web refrencing and looking at styles and the such. My notes are beginning to come to a close as there are not many realism artist out there that I can see.
I did see some paintings at an exihibition over thanksgiving, I thought she did really well, up until I saw that the girl standing between the 2 horses had childlike features and the quarter horses were full grown, the girls face was larger than the horses. This was hard to take and turn and walk away, she wanted $6000.00 for her painting.
It was about a 36 x 50 or 60 canvas. Her smaller paintings were breath taking.
